3 things

Posted by Edward Bronson under Home Improvement Advise

This is a great way to round up what’s been going on during the week, and includes three things I’m loving, hating, inspired by, or intrigued by. In fact, this list of three things doesn’t have a strict limit on it—it is anything that struck a chord with me during the week. So without further ado… 1. The non-existent arrival of summer. They say that California has the best climate, but unfortunately Northern California is rearing it’s uglier head with weather reminiscent of that in January. This is why the current month is now formally named, “June-uary”. Even though summer has not arrived, this outdoor patio umbrella (Flowerpowersol by Fatboy) would be perfect for those days anticipating summer. A great patio umbrella to protect you from the rain if you are suffering from cabin fever and have to be outside, but even better to protect you from the sun. 2. Summer cooking. Even if the weather isn’t coping, the produce is still coming in fresh as ever. With strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, and avocados brimming the farmer’s markets, it’s hard not to get inspired and start cooking up a storm. Smoothies, salads, pastas, rice dishes all are great ways to take advantage of fresh produce and still turn out delicious. And when beautiful things are cooking in the kitchen, it’s even better to have a beautiful setting to eat the food. The Flute Adjustable Barstool by Zuo Modern is fun and simple (especially in green and white), perfect for those summer dinners when it is still bright outside. Adding a barstool to an ordinary dining room or even kitchen ledge adds a whimsical touch to the space and adds a great pop of color. 3. Reading lists might remind you of grade school when it was a requirement to read numerous books during the summer. But for those who still attained the passion to read as they grew up, reading in the summer can be a simple pleasure. While a little delayed when it comes to jumping on the bestseller bandwagon, I have finally gotten around to reading “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Steig Larson. I have always been a fan of mysteries as a child (starting with Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie) and Larson does not fail to amaze me in how well thought out the plot is. With the twists and turns, it is hard to put the book down, which is why it is necessary that I have a comfortable reading spot. The Metropolitan Contemporary Armchair by Lazar Industries looks perfect for those reading sessions in which it is impossible to stop turning the page. While comfort is the first priority, it doesn’t hurt that the armchair itself is pretty sleek.
